The year 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of forming the Group of Seven Artists. The Huntsville Festival of the Arts is celebrating this momentous occasion with a special art project taking place in downtown Huntsville throughout the summer.  Local artist Gerry Lantaigne, known for his work on the Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery, has created seven brand new murals, each painted on the underside of a canoe and featuring the work of one of the Group of Seven members.

Upon completion, the seven canoe murals were displayed in downtown Huntsville, temporarily as part of the outdoor gallery in Mill Park. They will be included in the 2021 edition of Nuit Blanche North scheduled for July 25th next year. Following this, the canoes will be auctioned off as part of the Algonquin Outfitters Charity Paddle Art Auction in September 2021.

With the help of Dan Watson, Gerry Lantaigne and Limelight Muskoka, photos and videos from each canoe have been captured so you can continue to enjoy them now that they are no longer on display in River Mill Park.
