Preston Ciere talks about getting “Out There” during TEDxAlgonquinPark

Published on Dec 20, 2013
Preston Ciere is a popular Canadian writer, speaker and outdoor advocate. He shares his stories of backcountry adventures with the hope of inspiring others to embark on their own. He is known for his unique style of humour and his ability to convey his message in a genuine and approachable way. Preston discovered his connection to the outdoors at a young age. Spending his summers at his grandparents’ home in South River, many dinners went cold as young Preston lost track of time exploring the woods around him. The physical, mental and spiritual benefits were unmistakable and Preston felt strongly that others should have the same experience.
Preston started to facilitate this: a website featuring stories, ideas and resources for those wanting to find their own connection to nature. When he’s not on the water or on a trail with his portaging canine Nancy, you can find Preston championing various programs and initiatives that promote the rewards of getting “out there”. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
