Celebrate Halloween in Algonquin Park on October 28 and 29, 2016 with special events and contests at Mew Lake Campground and the Algonquin Park Visitor Centre. Below is a list of tentative event dates, times, and locations for 2016 Haunted Halloween Weekend. Events are subject to change as the event approaches. Keep up-to-date about this event automatically. Select “Other Event Actions” (below) and then “Notify me of changes” and enter your e-mail or SMS contact info. You will receive automatic updates and reminders for this event as they are posted.

Please also see below for more information about camping at Mew Lake Campground on Haunted Halloween Weekend. Visitors can now reserve campsites at Mew Lake Campground during the late fall and winter.

Saturday, October 29, 2016
Skeleton Tour – Explore the Algonquin Park specimen room with a Naturalist, and see some of the skulls, bones and specimens of some the Park’s wildlife.
Time: 12:00 – 2:00pm
Location: Algonquin Park Visitor Centre (km 43 of Highway 60)
Halloween Face Painting
Time: 12:00-3:30pm
Location: Mew Lake Campground Comfort Station
Small cost per face painting

Best Costume Contest
Time: 3:30-4:30pm
Location: Mew Lake Comfort Station

Trick or Treating at Mew Lake and Lake of Two Rivers Campgrounds – Put on your best costume and trick-or-treat at Mew Lake and Lake of Two Rivers Campgrounds! Be sure to look for the Trick-or-Treaters ‘Welcome Sign’ on the campsite post before entering any site. Have fun and be ready for some tricks and treats.

Pumpkin Carving Contest
Carve your best pumpkin and then leave your best pumpkins at your campsite post. Judging will take place starting at 5:00pm. Winners of the pumpkin carving contest will be announced at 8:00pm at the Wolf Howl

Spookiest Campsite Contest – Decorate your campsite with your spookiest ideas. Winners of the spookiest campsite contest will be announced at 8:00pm at the Wolf Howl.

Wolf Howl – Join a Park Naturalist to discover more about Algonquin Park’s Eastern Wolves.

CAMPING AT MEW LAKE CAMPGROUND

NEW! – Mew Lake Campground reservations are now possible up to 5 months in advance. Reserve your campsite via the centralized Provincial Parks Reservation Service.

As a result of an expected increase in demand for campsites on Haunted Halloween Weekend first-come, first-served overflow camping will be available at the neighbouring Lake of Two Rivers Campground as Park staff deem necessary. The Lake of Two Rivers Campground is home to more than 240 additional campsites, providing plenty of additional campsites for visitors. Electrical campsites will be available at Mew Lake Campground (and Lake of Two Rivers Campground if necessary). The Mew Lake Campground Comfort Station will be operational and the Lake of Two Rivers Campground Comfort Station will also be available if necessary. First-come, first-served visitors interested in a campsite for Haunted Halloween Weekend should proceed directly to the Mew Lake Campground Office to register. Late arrivals should select an available first-come, first-served campsite and then register the following morning at the Mew Lake Campground Office.
