2021 Paddle Art Auction – Special Saturday Viewing
37 Main St E
Huntsville
ON P1H 1A1
The Algonquin Outfitters 2021 charity paddle art auction will be live online from September 13th to September 27th. You’ll be able to view the paddles (and canoes) live in Partner’s Hall at the Algonquin Theatre in downtown Huntsville starting September 1st, 2021 with a special viewing on Saturday, Sept 25th from 10 am until 4 pm at the Algonquin Theatre.
Directions & Main Street Construction
Because of the construction in downtown Huntsville, we recommend parking behind the Algonquin Theatre on High Street [directions]. You can enter by the back door, go down the stairs and follow the corridor around to the right to find the paddles and canoes in Partner’s Hall on the lower level just behind the main entrance.
NOTE: The Algonquin Theatre is currently only open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, closed on weekends and evenings. There will be a special showing on Saturday, Sept 25th from 10 am to 4 pm for those who wish to view the paddles on a Saturday.
All the paddles are on display at the Algonquin Theatre, as of the afternoon of Friday, Sept 10th. We’re also working to have all the paddles on the auction site for previewing by Saturday, Sept 11th, 2021. It takes time to photograph and enter all the information about the paddles on the auction site, thank you for your patience.
Online Auction will be hosted from Sept 13th until the evening of Monday, Sept 27th, 2021
- When: Sept 13th to the evening of Monday, Sept 27th, 2021 – The first lot starts to close at 8 pm.
- Auction Site: https://algonquinoutfitters.hibid.com/auctions/
- Subscribe to this Auction: https://algonquinoutfitters.hibid.com/email/subscribe
- Why are some paddles opening bids at $9,000,000? Algonquin Outfitters has chosen not to profit from indigenous culture. With respect to the artists’ work and effort, a $100 donation will be made by Algonquin Outfitters for each of these paddles to the auction’s charities. [More Info]
Group of Seven Canoes by Jerry Lantaigne and the Huntsville Festival of the Arts
We have a very special addition to the Paddle Art Auction this year, in the form of 7 unique, Group of Seven canoes.
The year 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Group of Seven Artists. We’re celebrating this momentous occasion with a special art project taking place in downtown Huntsville throughout the summer. Local artist Gerry Lantaigne, known for his work on the Group of 7 Outdoor Gallery, has created seven brand new murals, each painted on the underside of a canoe and featuring the work of one of the Group of 7 members.
All seven, Group of Seven canoes will be available in the Algonquin Outfitters Paddle Art Auction in September 2021.
