Algonquin Park
150 for 150
Join the 150 for 150 crew on Sunday June 25 on Canoe Lake
The canoe is an icon that is symbolically Canadian to most. We recognize it’s importance recreationally, it’s significance historically, and not least of all, it’s ingenuity by the First Nation’s people. This unassuming vessel was pivotal to the First Nation’s people to thrive in this environment, and it was also this gift to the early Europeans that carved and created this country that we’ve come to know and love today. It is our goal and our passion to honour the canoe during Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations, for its value and importance to our nation.
Goal
- To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday by gathering 150 canoes on Canoe Lake in Algonquin Provincial Park.
Purpose
- To celebrate the significance of the canoe to this country.
Mission
- To acknowledge the grassroots ingenuity and craftsmanship of the First Nation’s gift to this country and people.
- To inform the public as to the pivotal role the canoe played in the creation of this country.
- To share in the passion for the sport and how it intimately connects us to this land and country.

Would love to see some photos of this remarkable event. Do you have any? Could you post them? We do not have facebook.
Greg and Helen thanks for your interest in last weekend’s #150for150 event. There were dozens if not hundreds of photos shared on social media around this event. One little trick you may not realize is you don’t actually have to be on Facebook or Twitter to see content on those social media channels if you know how to find it.
