Algonquin Outfitters understands that not everyone is ready (or simply doesn’t have the time) to go on a multi-day interior canoe trip. If your time in Algonquin Park is limited, Algonquin Outfitters offers a variety of day trips, starting from Oxtongue Lake or Lake Opeongo. Both guided and self-guided options are available. Or, you can switch gears and head to our Lake of Two Rivers Store for an easy bike ride, perhaps with family or friends.

Experience the best wildlife viewing Algonquin Park has to offer on a day trip. Hailstorm Creek is a protected nature reserve area in the north arm of Lake Opeongo.
This unique excursion allows day-trippers to explore scenic Hailstorm Creek in the north arm of Lake Opeongo without having to worry about paddling on a big lake. Our Opeongo water taxi transports people and canoes (or kayaks) safely from our Lake Opeongo store deep into Algonquin Park in just 20 minutes, then returns at a prearranged pickup time.
Wide, placid Hailstorm Creek winds through a beautiful wetland where wildlife viewing opportunities abound, particularly for moose. You’ll spend your time exploring the Hailstorm Creek Nature Reserve while enjoying the opportunity to be out in the wilderness amid amazing scenery.
