2021 Paddle Art Contest Rules
Algonquin Outfitters Paddle Art Contest supports local charities through funds raised at auction. This contest is open to persons over the age of 18, Parents or guardians can enter on behalf of youth at their discretion.
57″ wooden unfinished paddle blanks are available online and in stores at Algonquin Outfittesr for $29.98+tx entry fee (a shipping fee may apply) and only one (1) prize will be awarded per person or household.
Transportation and/or shipping of paddles entered is the responsibility of the entrant. Any shipping of prizes is the responsibility of the prize winner. Paddles may be dropped off and prizes may also be picked up at any of the AO Stores (see Map).
Prizes
This contest will have a minimum of 1 prize for every 25 paddles entered. (Prizes will be announced as the contest progresses and paddles are received back)
Prizes must be accepted as awarded, have no cash equivalent and are not transferable or refundable. Trips must be booked and utilized within one year of the draw date. The number of eligible entries received by the contest closing date will determine the odds of winning a prize. Algonquin Outfitters reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal value in the event that the prize described is unavailable due to circumstances beyond their control.
Winner Selection Process
Paddles that are received back before the contest closing date of Aug 31st, 2021 will be entered into our charity fundraising auction (you will not recieve them back but you can bid on your own paddle if you would like). Paddles that receive the highest value auction bids by the end of the auction will be awarded prizes.
In the event that the contest sponsors are unable to notify the selected entrant within 14 days of the contest ending that winner may be disqualified and an alternate winner will be selected the next highest bid among all remaining eligible entries. Only one (1) prize will be awarded per contest winner, household, family, group or organization.
Liability
The contest sponsors accept no liability for errors on material distributed for this program.
All entries successfully submitted become the property of Algonquin Outfitters, who assumes no responsibility for incomplete, lost, late, damaged, illegible or misdirected entries or email, nor for technical, hardware or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connection, or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions which may limit a user’s ability to participate. Algonquin Outfitters reserves the right to cancel or suspend this contest should a virus, bug, computer problem, unauthorized human intervention or other cause beyond its control corrupt the administration, security, fairness or proper play of the contest.
By participating in this program, all participants and award winners agree that Algonquin Outfitters, its partnerships, subsidiaries and affiliates and each of such entities’ respective officers, directors, agents and employees are not responsible or liable for any injury, loss illness, litigation or damage that may occur from participation in the promotion or acceptance, possession, use or misuse of prizes. In the event that any dispute arises regarding the meaning or interpretation of these official rules, participants agree that the dispute shall be resolved by applying the laws of Ontario and that it shall be resolved by and within the courts of that province.
Entrants Agree
By entering this contest, entrants agree that their paddle entry may be auctioned off to the highest bidder in the charity auction (with no reembursment given to them) and to be governed by these rules, and, if requested, agree to have their name and photograph used without compensation for advertising purposes related to this contest.
Entrants also agree to receive communications via email or telephone from Algonquin Outfitters as a condition of entry. Contact may be made to validate the entry form and to present additional offers from Algonquin Outfitters, only if requested. Requests to unsubscribe from the contest should be sent to contest@
Paddles submitted to the contest will be displayed publicly and/or online. We reserve the right to not display any paddle we feel is inappropriate for public display. At times some or all paddles may not be on display too. By submitting a paddle to the contest it becomes the property of Algonquin Outfitters until such time as it is successfully auctioned off to the highest bidder. If paddles do not receive auction bids they too become the property of Algonquin Outfitters and will be either donated to our charities or used to raise more funds through a future event, sale or auction.
If you would like your paddle back you may bid on it at our live auction. A winning bid not only provides funds for our charities but also awards the paddle to the highest bid. Amateur and professional artists are allowed to enter. We feel that our contest rules often deter professional artists from entering and “giving away” their work. If you are professional artists who would like to help promote the contest and raise funds for our charities we encourage you to contact marketing@algonquinoutfitters.com and inquire about how you can participate as a professional artist.
By entering you certify that you are the creator of the paddler or the legal guardian or parent of a youth entering. Algonquin Outfitters has the sole discretion to use or not use any paddles entered. In the case that we choose to not use your paddle, we will contact you to arrange to have you pick it up.
By entering you also agree that we may display your name, home town and information about your paddle publicly in regards to running this contest.
Excluded Participants
Direct contest organizers are the only ones excluded from this contest. Algonquin Outfitters Staff, Partners, Prize Providers, and Charities Members are all eligible to participate.
