Algonquin Outfitters Huntsville 110 @ Hidden Valley Resort

The ALGONQUIN OUTFITTERS’ HUNTSVILLE 110 will challenge you to circumnavigate Huntsville’s 110km four-lake system in the fastest possible time! With only one portage intersection, this course is all about digging deep through a mixture of open lakes and flat-water rivers. As you would expect from River X, your adventure will continue well past sunset, adding the technical element of night time navigation and orientation.

(NEW) TEAM CHAMPS: ALGONQUIN OUTFITTERS’ HUNTSVILLE 110 introduces a team-based ultra-marathon race whereby each TEAM CHAMPS entry consists of two (2) individual teams (A & B). Each A and B team can register, compete and be eligible for results and awards in any watercraft category. Together, A and B team results are combined towards the overall TEAM CHAMPS award. Those paddlers who wish to go it alone remain eligible for results and awards within their respective categories.

(NEW) PURSUIT START: ALGONQUIN OUTFITTERS’ HUNTSVILLE 110 introduces a Pursuit Start for the first time on the water. Adopted from the Nordic sports, the start times are staggered for each category based on the anticipated average pace used to calculate the TEAM CHAMPS benchmarks. The result will be a fast-paced challenge to either stay at the front of the pack OR chase down the leaders. The Pursuit promises an action-packed finish line as the gaps between the teams close and the competition heats up to see who will be crowned First To The Finish!

Located just a few hours north of Toronto, Ontario, Huntsville is home to a premiere Paddle-Sport Stadium, naturally suited to host ultra-marathon events. With a 4-lake system connected by a mixture of rivers and canals, Huntsville offers a full menu of conditions for the flat-water paddle sports racer and is the quintessential Canadian paddling destination. For the ALGONQUIN OUTFITTERS’ HUNTSVILLE 110, you will experience all of what Fairy Lake, Lake Vernon, Mary Lake, and Pen Lake have to offer, including the Muskoka River and the Big East River. Teams will follow a predetermined route to achieve various Checkpoints and Waypoints before returning to the Start/Finish at Hidden Valley Resort.

2021 Paddle Art Auction - Special Saturday Viewing @ Algonquin Theatre

The Algonquin Outfitters 2021 charity paddle art auction will be live online from September 13th to September 27th. You’ll be able to view the paddles (and canoes) live in Partner’s Hall at the Algonquin Theatre in downtown Huntsville starting September 1st, 2021 with a special viewing on Saturday, Sept 25th from 10 am until 4 pm at the Algonquin Theatre.

Directions & Main Street Construction

Because of the construction in downtown Huntsville, we recommend parking behind the Algonquin Theatre on High Street [directions].  You can enter by the back door, go down the stairs and follow the corridor around to the right to find the paddles and canoes in Partner’s Hall on the lower level just behind the main entrance.

NOTE: The Algonquin Theatre is currently only open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm, closed on weekends and evenings. There will be a special showing on Saturday, Sept 25th from 10 am to 4 pm for those who wish to view the paddles on a Saturday.

All the paddles are on display at the Algonquin Theatre, as of the afternoon of Friday, Sept 10th.  We’re also working to have all the paddles on the auction site for previewing by Saturday, Sept 11th, 2021.  It takes time to photograph and enter all the information about the paddles on the auction site, thank you for your patience.

Online Auction will be hosted from Sept 13th until the evening of Monday, Sept 27th, 2021

Group of Seven Canoes by Jerry Lantaigne and the Huntsville Festival of the Arts

We have a very special addition to the Paddle Art Auction this year, in the form of 7 unique, Group of Seven canoes.

The year 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Group of Seven Artists. We’re celebrating this momentous occasion with a special art project taking place in downtown Huntsville throughout the summer. Local artist Gerry Lantaigne, known for his work on the Group of 7 Outdoor Gallery, has created seven brand new murals, each painted on the underside of a canoe and featuring the work of one of the Group of 7 members.

All seven, Group of Seven canoes will be available in the Algonquin Outfitters Paddle Art Auction in September 2021.
