The Seventh Season of the Algonquin Outfitters Muskoka River X
River X Racing is Rob Horton and Mike Varieur with the ongoing support of Algonquin Outfitters. The flag-ship event is the Muskoka River X; the longest single day expedition paddling race in the world. For the story behind this race watch the mini doc below.
In 2015, the Muskoka River X expanded by adding a traverse of Algonquin Park as an optional expansion to the Classic event, and the Coureur des Bois was born. Continuing to push the envelope of ultra-distance marathon paddling, the boys at River X have added the 24 Hours of River X in 2017. This 24 Hour relay event is a first for North America and challenges teams to go as fast…and as far as possible in 24 Hours. All within a close-course festival style setting.
For 2019 we once again offer something different, let me introduce you to our new race series The Ox on Saturday June 15th 2019.

Coureur des Bois
September 13-15, 2019
The Coureur des Bois is back! The River X Crew first hosted this expansion course to the Muskoka River X Classic in 2015 and 2016. Using only the supplies that were carried teams will overnight in a wilderness camping setting at Oxtongue before merging with the Muskoka River X Classic B-Side for a second full day of paddle racing. 223km. 39 portages. 48 hours or less. No resupplies. No support. Navigation with only map and compass. Flat-water. Up-river. Down-river. Marshlands and swamp. A true Canadian back-country expedition race.
