Almaguin Harvest Spin Series 2020

What to expect for Almaguin Harvest Spin 2021

The AHS will feature four villages within the Almaguin region, multiple established & promoted bike routes, and over 15 businesses.
The event day component consists of four cycling route distances targeted to engage all levels of cyclists including beginners, enthusiasts, and experts. The 10KM and 25KM rides will be targeted towards beginners, youth, families, and other riders; the 60KM and 100KM distances will cater to enthusiasts and experts while guiding riders through four villages and seven municipalities. The ride will be fully supported by vehicles, rest areas, and directional signage. In addition, the cycle portion will feature Almaguin’s designated cycling routes, its infrastructure investments, and the extraordinary fall colours.
The routes for the AHS have been chosen in partnership with AIM to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride which includes sections with paved shoulders, low traffic municipal roads, and good visibility. In addition to the optimal riding routes, the event team will work with local agricultural business operators to sponsor ride rest stops at key locations and promote healthy, high energy snack options (locally produced where possible). We will also be working with local farms and restaurants to create a culinary experience after your ride. Vehicle support, including maintenance equipment, first aid supplies, and available space for rider pick-up. The AIM team also maintains a strong relationship with Parry Sound Bikes, who is being approached to offer pre-ride bike inspections (which has been a big hit in previous local youth events). We can’t wait for you to join us at next year’s event!

Spring Swift Canoe Sale (Update TBA) @ Algonquin Outfitters Oxtongue Lake
May 8 all day

Where can I buy a good new or used canoe?

You can still buy used canoes from Algonquin Outfitters, please call 1-800-469-4948 and leave a message, we will return your call.  This even may have to be rescheduled due to COVID-19.

This question comes up more often than you might think.  Whether it’s the beginning of paddling season or the middle of winter, people always want to know where they can buy a good used canoe, and many of them turn to us as they know our rental fleet consists of some of the best canoes on the market.

Swift Canoe will be featuring a spring sale at our Oxtongue Lake location.  There’s not better time to buy and enjoy a new, or new to you, canoe than the spring.

Every year we sell off a number of retired rental canoes that have seen several seasons of rental use and will always have scratches and patches on the hull. All of our canoes have been reconditioned to a “no leak” condition, some may even have had new paint jobs. All are a good value.

Most used Kevlar models sell between $1000 and $2000 (about half to a third of their original retail price) and fiberglass models sell between $500 and $900. The most popular used models are Algonquin or Prospector 16 & 17 and the Swift Kipawa 16’6″.  Please visit our Used Canoe page for a list of models currently available.

Estimated Price Ranges

•    Used fiberglass canoes $500-$900
•    Used Kevlar canoes $1500-$2500
•    Used plastic recreational kayaks $300-$700
•    Used touring kayaks $500-$1200
•    Used whitewater kayaks (call 1-866-KAYAKS-O)

The Elusive $300 Used Canoe

We do get a lot of calls from customers looking for the elusive $300 ultralight Kevlar canoe. Considering that most new Kevlar canoes cost $3000-$4000, you can just imagine what a used one valued at $300 would look like! One thing to consider is that usually the lower the price, the more TLC your used canoe will require (or the heavier it will be).
