Algonquin Outfitters statement about Coronavirus (Covid19)

March 13th, 2020

March 17th update on Algonquin Outfitters store closures

This is an unprecedented time of uncertainty for all us as our daily lives are disrupted by the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

As we monitor updates from health authorities, we remain confident that things will return to normal in the long term. However, we have and will continue to take steps to ensure the safety of our customers and staff in the short term.

We are in our 60th year of helping people pursue their outdoor adventures in a safe and memorable way! With that in mind, we have taken the following measures:

  • We have waived our standard 3-day cancellation policy for all rental/outfitting reservations. Should you need to change or cancel your plans due to the Coronavirus outbreak, you can do so free of charge.
  • We have instituted heightened cleaning protocols across all of our stores. This includes frequent cleaning of restrooms and common surfaces such as debit machines, doorknobs, counters, etc.
  • Our team has been educated in terms of best practices to prevent the spread of infection. This includes frequent hand-washing, the use of alcohol sanitizers, and avoiding close contact with others. We will continue to operate our stores as long as we can do so without creating an unnecessary risk for our customers or staff.
  • Our staff will ensure that all rental equipment is safe to use, including any necessary sanitization.

We are likewise requesting that all customers take an equally active role in maintaining the safety of our venue for other clients and staff alike. Most importantly, if you are experiencing respiratory problems, have a fever or flu-like symptoms, or have recently travelled to an area with a known outbreak, we are requesting that you postpone your visit to Algonquin Outfitters. For those who do visit, please practice good hand hygiene by washing with soap or alcohol-based hand sanitizers with minimum 60% alcohol (available at our locations), and cough or sneeze into tissues or flexed elbows.

If you should have any questions or concerns please reach out to us right away, and we hope to see you on your next outdoor adventure!
