Overnight - Kayaking Trip

Kayak touring is a perfect way to explore large expenses open water with little or no portaging. Some of Algonquin Park's larger lakes, like Opeongo, Rock or Galeairy, are well suited to this type of travel.

Kayaks are fast and fun to paddle but we try to discourage people from using then on trips with longer and/or many portages. Portaging kayaks and overnight gear is tricky and time consuming, and will use up most of the time you gain by faster paddling. This is a modified version of Superlight Outfitting offering the use of touring kayaks and related equipment. These are not available with other plans.

The most valuable part of our outfitting service is the training, advice and help that our experienced guides and outfitters will give when custom tailoring your trip, route and equipment to your abilities and desires. Provided for no extra charge, this service is just one of the things that makes any Algonquin Outfitters outfitting package among the finest in North America.

What to Bring
You need only bring your own clothing and personal items. Check our Canoe Trip Planning page for a suggested list. And don't worry if if don't have a particular piece of clothing or forget your toothbrush, our stores are well stocked with camping accessories and some great travel clothing.

Try our Greenhorn Service!
This service is included with Ultimate Outfitting and is an option for all Complete Outfitting customers who feel they might need a basic course in kayak trip skills. One of our staff will lead you on a three hour "mini-trip" and cover skills like camp set-up, food storage, portaging and paddling tips. The charge is $25 per person, with a minimum of two adults. Children in the group are free. Available by advance reservation only at Oxtongue Lake.

Reservations
Reservations for Sea Kayak Outfitting should be made at least four weeks in advance, in order to ensure permit availability. This package is not available at the Huntsville or Brent stores.
Park permit fees are extra and are paid by the client.
