"What's New" for fall and winter, 2007/2008

Algonquin Outfitters is open all winter!
In the winter we operate our Oxtongue Lake, Huntsville, Bracebridge (Swiftys Surf & Snow) and Hidden Valley Shop stores. Both the Oxtongeu Lake and Hunstville stores offer cross-countryski and snowshoe rentals and sales. Winter camping equipment such as warm sleeping bags, are availabel at the Oxtongue Lake store. If you are looking for some downhill excitement, our Huntsville and Bracebridge stores offer snowboards and Huntsville has a large selection of top quality alpine skis too. On your way to the slopes already, our Hidden Valley shop offers that last minute extra like hats and gloves to make sure your outfitted to enjoy the runs, we also run a demo snowboard program at Hidden Valley. Nov. 02- Dec. 15: open Thursday - Monday, 9-5, closed Tuesday and Wednesday
Dec. 16 - April 30: open daily, 9-5

Huntsville:
September 2 - June 30: Monday - Friday, 10 am - 6 pm ; Saturday, 9 am - 5:00 pm ; Sunday, 11 am - 4 pm

Banff Mountain Film Festival: Thursday, Jan 22 and Wed Jan 23, 2008
Get a taste of wild mountain adventures, and more, when this year's Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour rolls into Huntsville on Thursday, January 22 and Wednesday, January 23, 2008. Showtime is at 7:30 pm at the Algonquin Theatre on Main Street in Huntsville.

For the last nine years, Algonquin Outfitters has hosted this spectacular showing of mountain films in Huntsville. Films in world tour bring the spirit of adventure to life on the screen. A wide variety of stories - from mountain sports, mountain culture and the environment - will entice and inspire viewers.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is produced by Mountain Culture at The Banff Centre. The tour includes award-winning films from the Banff Mountain Film Festival, an annual event held in early November at The Banff Centre in Banff, Alberta. The world tour spans the globe, making its way to North and South America, Europe, South Africa, India, Poland and Iceland.

Both shows will feature a wide variety of films. While there certainly is more selection in the "action/adventure" categories this year, our goal is to put more human interest in the first night and more action in the second. Hopefully there will be something for everyone in between! Personally, I'm going to both nights...

11th Annual Winter Fun Day: Saturday, February 16, 2008
The Winter Fun Day is an event that will get you excited about winter! At this popular event, you can drive a dog team on a 5 km trail, try out cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, learn about winter camping, watch ice climbers in action, enter a snowshoe race and go on a guided snowshoe adventure.
